A controversial novel appeared in the US

The controversial novel “Jewel of the Medina,” US journalist Sherry Jones, about which we wrote earlier, hit the US market. The novel about Mohammed’s fiancée – Aisha, was published after the attack on the British publisher Random House.

Three men accused of setting fire to the British publisher’s London bookstore with gasoline bottles were charged.

Beaufort Books, an American publishing house, has published the novel prematurely: “We want the title to be judged as a work of literature, not a potential offense for Muslims.”

Eric Kampmann, head of Beaufort Books said:

We feel that it will be better if the topic of discussion changes from “terrorists and fearless publishers” to the content of the book itself. That’s why we accelerated its release. “

British media recall that publishers fear similar reactions after Salman Rushdie’s “Satanic Verses” in 1988. The Japanese translator of the book was murdered, and unsuccessful attempts were made on the Norwegian and Italian publishers.

It is hard not to notice that the controversy that accompanies novels from the very beginning of its origins is an excellent method of promotion, and those who have had the opportunity to get acquainted with its content have divided opinions.

Professor Denise Spellberg of the University of Texas at Austin evaluated:

“It’s a stupid, bad book that offends Islam, a true declaration of war, and more controversial than Satanic verses.”

Particularly controversial is the fact that Muhammad took Aisha as wife when she was 6 years old , and the marriage was consummated when she was 9 years old.
